Lake Nakuru Environmental Education Centre

The Education Centre is located within the spectacular Lake Nakuru National Park, in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya. The Park is internationally recognized as an important Rhino sanctuary, a Ramsar site, and recently achieved the World Heritage site status. The WCK Education Centre is situated very close to the lake shores, approximately 3.2 Km from the main gate, commanding panoramic views of wildlife which roam close by.

It is an ideal facility now popularly used for conservation education purposes where students learn about the ecology of Lake Nakuru National Park, the wildlife and environmental issues with the objectives of making Kenya’s youth and the general public aware of great economic, culture and aesthetic value of Lake nakuru, develop a better understanding of the need to conserve Wildlife and other natural resources for the benefit of the nation and its people and Spread the interest and knowledge about wildlife, the environment and natural resources among the youths through conservation education.

5. Assisting schools in the region to establish micro projects such as tree nurseries, compost pits, bee hives and nature trails

Hostel facilities

The centre has 3 dormitories that can accommodate 58 students and 3 Bandas accommodating 12 persons.
There is a fully equipped large school type kitchen and dining room facilities, cold showers and toilets.
Current rates for WCK registered students are only Ksh200 per night and Ksh250 for non-WCK members while Adult teachers are charged KES 300 for WCK members and KES 350 for non WCK members,
None Citizens are Charged KES 1000.
There is a separate self contained Banda with 3 beds, a kitchen area and hot water shower. This unit is very ideal for couples / family and is popular with honey-mooners!
The rates are Ksh 1250 per person per night.
Guests bring their own food and fuel wood to make their meals.

Conference Hall, Wedding Ground And Team Building Events

The centre has expansive grounds for camping, group discussions, and is ideal for weddings and outdoor activities; we also have conference facility with the following equipments:

T.V and DVD/Video deck, Overhead projector and screen and a power generator.

During the outreach, WCK shares and distributes educational materials to the schools, and assist schools in initiating micro projects such as tree nurseries, nature trails among other programs

2. Guest House

The Wildlife Clubs of Kenya (WCK) Guest House / Hostel is located right inside Lake Nakuru National Park . It is about 4 KM from the Main gate. You will need a car to access our facilities and for your game drive.

The Guest House is an old settler house, ideally located on a gentle undulating hillside with a very panoramic view of the park. From the compound you will be able to easily see hundreds of buffaloes, many zebras, impalas, and most likely you will see the rhinos. The lake shores are about 1km from the Guest house, and you will be able to see hippos and thousands of birds...flamingos, pelicans etc.

The Guest house has three units, i.e. the Main house, Guest wing and the Annex, each have 2 bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate a max of 18 guests. The charges are Ksh 1250 per person per night, and Ksh 600 children below 18years old. These charges are exclusive of Park Entry charges. The charges into the park can be found at (valid 24 hrs continuous stay in the park)

We offer accommodation only (bed, bedding, mosquito nets, hot water showers), and request our clients to bring own food, and other personal effects.

We have a fully functioning communal kitchen, with all necessary utensils-including cooking gas, refrigerator for the clients use.

We urge the clients to be inside the park by 6.00pm; as Kenya Wildlife Service closes the main gates at 6.30pm.
